Training: Prepared to Serve

Our volunteer firefighters undergo continuous, high-quality training through partnerships with area fire departments, community colleges, and the Pennsylvania State Fire Academy. Training occurs during our weekly Tuesday night drills, with advanced courses often held on weekends.

Certification programs include:

• Firefighter I (160-hour NFPA-compliant Essentials of Firefighting)

• Vehicle Rescue

• Water Rescue

• Elevator Rescue

• Pump Operations

• Hazardous Materials – Awareness and Operations

• Ropes and Rigging

• And many more specialized skills

We train to be ready for anything - because lives depend on it.

Prevention: Teaching Safety Early

Fire prevention is at the heart of what we do. Each station plays an active role in the Upper Macungie Township Fire Safety and Prevention Program, reaching hundreds of local children and families every year.

Key outreach tools include:

• Sparky the Fire Dog
  Our remote-controlled fire safety robot brings excitement to fire safety lessons at schools and public events.

• The Smoke House Trailer
  This mobile classroom helps kids safely experience simulated smoke conditions using fog machines. It reinforces key fire safety lessons like “Stop, Drop, and Roll” and includes realistic kitchen and bedroom setups with educational video displays.
